Wessex Hotel, Bournemouth

Blanchard Wells was entrusted by Inland Homes, a key client, to deliver the civils and structures for a new 105-bed hotel and two blocks of 88 individual apartments.

The scope of work involved constructing a contiguous piled basement with capping beams, supporting an RC podium transfer slab to facilitate the construction of three light-gauge steel frame high-rise structures. Additionally, the project involved installing new foul and storm drainage systems and completing external works for the development.

The project was located in a busy city centre, which made forward planning and logistical controls essential. Despite these challenges, the team at Blanchard Wells delivered the project within the designated timeframes of 31 weeks for the basement and 36 weeks for the external works and drainage. This was a fast-paced project, which required the team’s technical expertise and proactive approach to overcome any potential obstacles.
