Merger of Blanchard Wells and Southern Concrete
Blanchard Wells and Southern Concrete have merged to become one of the region’s leading construction companies.
Mark Wells, chairman of both companies, took the decision to combine them to improve efficiency and customer service. Blanchard Wells Structures and Civils will provide high quality groundworks and reinforced concrete frames for the construction industry.
The original company, Blanchard Wells, was founded in 2000 by Mark Wells and Mark Blanchard.
“Blanchard Wells is celebrating 20 years in business by bringing our two companies together,” explains Mark Wells. “We are ambitious and aim to grow. This is a logical step to combine our groundworks expertise with our skills in concrete frames and civil engineering and will make it easier for our customers to do business with us.”
The company employs 400+ people and has its headquarters in Soberton, Hampshire. Its order book stands at £25m and its turnover in 2017/18 was £34m.
At present, the company is working on 20 projects in the region ranging from Winchester’s new leisure centre (in partnership with Willmott Dixon) and a 15-storey residential block in East Street (in partnership with PMC) to landscaping for the University of Southampton and providing the groundwork and RC structure works for the new power line from France to the UK at IFA2, Daedalus
Blanchard Wells Structures and Civils is proud to be a family firm. Its first three employees Matt Thomas, Joe Pedder and Mark Camp still work for the company, although 80 year old Joe is now considering a part-time role.
Blanchard Wells Structures and Civils is looking to the future. Mark Wells has been one of the prominent business leaders behind the launch of the Civil Engineering Training Centre (CETC) at Fareham College which is training the next generation of ground workers and this partnership will continue.
